Message from the County Administrator
Broward County’s Five-Year Workplan for 2006-2010 is designed to implement the eight goals adopted by the Board of County Commissioners in 2005. Market measures, objectives and actions have been established in pursuit of attaining each goal. Through quarterly reports, we will be able to track our progress toward achieving each goal.
The Commission’s goal-setting process has been in existence since 1998, when Commissioners adopted five strategic goals from a long list of priorities. In succeeding years, the goals have been adjusted, refined and expanded. In 2005, the Commission chose eight long-range goals and requested that staff develop a more formal process toward achieving each goal. With the adoption of the Five-Year Workplan for 2006-2010, financial resources have been allocated to assist us in pursuit of our established objectives. Actions will be taken to achieve each objective, which will be measured by performance and market measures. We will be able to gauge our success on a quarterly basis, making adjustments as we proceed.
As we go through this process, our emphasis will be on productivity while we provide our residents with efficient, cost-effective and SUNsational service. Our bottom line is enhancing and promoting the quality of life in Broward County for every resident, business and visitor.
