Question: What is the benefit of a Consolidated Regional System?

Answer: The Consolidated Regional System will enhance public safety for all Broward County residents and visitors while realizing efficiencies by standardizing operations. 

Question: What are Broward County’s responsibilities in the Consolidated Regional System?

Answer: Broward County will maintain governance, management, performance, planning, implementation and oversight of the Consolidated Regional System to ensure transparency and accountability on the delivery of call-taking, teletype (queries only), and dispatching services.

Question: What is the responsibility of the municipalities in the Consolidated Regional System?

Answer: Local municipalities are responsible for any outstanding employee obligations that have accrued prior to October 1, 2013. In addition, the municipalities are responsible for ensuring that they have executed agreements required to join the Consolidated Regional System and to access data from the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS).

Question: What is the timeframe for implementing the Consolidated Regional System?

Answer: Broward County has begun the process of implementing the Consolidated Regional System, and will assume responsibility of the system effective October 1, 2013. It is anticipated that full consolidation will be completed by the end of FY2014.
