Holiday Travel Tips
Arrive at the Airport Early
If you plan on traveling over the holidays you should arrive at least two hours early during busy times. That would include early morning, mid-day and late afternoon. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, (FLL), has free wireless internet available throughout all four terminals withplenty of food choices including Dunkin Donuts. There are alsoseveral areas where you can relax while waiting for your flight.
In the Bag
Familiarize yourself with the newrules for carry on luggage. The Transportation Security Administration, (TSA), has been promoting 3-1-1. That's 3 ounces or less size containers for liquids and gels placed in a 1 quart size clear plastic zip-lock bag. Only one bag per traveler placed in the security bin. You should have the bag removed from your carry on luggage before you approach the TSA checkpoint. Still have questions? Visit the TSA's website.
If youwillpark at the airport, allow enough time to find a space, possibly in a remote lot. FLL won't run out of space but you may not be parking in your favorite garage if you arrive late. If traveling with family or friends, drop them off at the curb first and leave your luggage with them. That way when you park you have less to worry about.
Don't forget to suspend your mail and your newspaper. Leave a car in your driveway and use a timer to turn your interior lights on and off while you're away. By following these suggestions your holidays are more likely to be stress free, at least when it comes to the travel portion. Have a safe and happy holiday season.
