Adopt a "Study Buddy!"

August is now here, which means Back to School! When getting all those school supplies, be sure to include the most important thing--a "study buddy," who can make even the most challenging homework assignment a lot more fun!
Adopt a pet from us and kids (18 and under) will receive a complimentary Paw Hero draw-string knapsack and pencils. We're even extending the ever-popular "Name Your Own Price" for dogs. Fees continue to be waived on adoptable cats!

Clear the Shelter Event!

​Join us Saturday, August 15th, from 11AM to 5PM, as we partner with NBC6, Telemundo 51 and Y100 Radio for a very special "Clear the Shelters" adoption  event at our shelter, 1870 SW 39th Street, Fort Lauderdale, 33315!
NBC6 Meterologidst Erika Delgado and Y100 Radio will broadcast live from our Adoption Center throughout the day.
In addition, all adoption fees, including the $20 non-refundable deposit for lost/stray pets, will be waived that day.
The Clear the Shelters effort, which is sponsored by, is a special pet adoption drive taking place throughout the United States in order to focus on the need to adopt homeless pets.  This is the first time the promotion will take place in our region. 

Here in South Florida, we will be participating with the Humane Society of Broward County; Miami-Dade Animal Services, and the Humane Society of Greater Miami.

Rabies Clinic

Our next Rabies Clinic will be held Saturday, August 22, from 9AM - 2PM, at the Collins Community Center, 3900 NE 3rd Avenue, Oakland Park, 33334.  Cost for a one-year rabies vaccination and Broward County Rabies Registration tag is $25 for dogs and cats that are spayed/neutered; and $35 for pets that are not spayed/neutered. Microchips will also be available for $15. You must be a Broward County resident to attend. All dogs must be on leashes and all cats in carriers. ONLY CREDIT/DEBIT CARD PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED! Remember, there is now a $600 fine for pets that are not vaccinated against rabies and registered with the County.  For additional Rabies Clinic dates and locations click here.

Dog Smarts 101 Class!

The next Dog Smarts 101 Class, will take place Tuesday, August 11, from 6 - 7PM, at the Miramar Branch Library, 2050 Civic Center Place, Miramar. The pet education class will teach dog owners (or anyone thinking about getting a pet), important information about dog behavior and why dogs do the things they do. This is the perfect class for anyone experiencing behavioral problems with their dog, such as barking, chewing and housebreaking issues. The class is FREE to all residents. Since this is not a dog training session, no pets will be permitted to the program.

FREE Spay/Neuter for Cats!

Broward County Animal Care and the Humane Society of Broward County are teaming up to offer FREE spaying/neutering for cats that reside in 11 specific zip codes including: 33009, 33023, 33025, 33314, 33317, 33325, 33021, 33024, 30060, 33315 and 33324.
