Cost of the Rabies Registration Tag
The cost of the Rabies Registration Tag depends on whether your pet is a dog or cat and whether your pet is spayed/neutered*:
- If your dog is spayed/neutered (fixed)--$25
- If your dog is NOT spayed/neutered (fixed)--$55
- If your cat is spayed/neutered (fixed)--$15
- If your cat is NOT spayed/neutered (fixed)--$30
A $10 late fee will be applied if your Rabies Registration Tag is not purchased within 30 days of your pet's rabies vaccination.
*Please note, some veterinary offices may charge an additional handling fee to cover their administrative costs.
Where to Purchase the Rabies Registration Tag
Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Rabies Registration Tags can be purchased in a variety of ways. The County provides Rabies Registration Tags to veterinarians and other organizations that contract with our agency to issue the tags. Information about each registration sold is forwarded to Animal Care and Adoption, and maintained in our database. You can purchase a new or renewal Broward County Rabies Registration Tag in any of these locations:
*Be sure to bring/mail a copy of your current Rabies Certificate when purchasing the tag. The Rabies Certificate is proof that your pet has received the rabies vaccination.
The most convenient time to purchase a Broward County Rabies Registration Tag is when you bring your pet to your veterinarian for his annual physical, which includes a rabies vaccination. If your veterinarian also sells the Broward County Rabies Registration Tag, you will be able to purchase it while you are there to get your pet examined and vaccinated against rabies.
The veterinarian will give you a copy of a completed and signed Rabies Certificate for your records and your Rabies Registration Tag at the same time. The Rabies Certificate shows when and where your pet was vaccinated.
All of the information regarding the vaccine and the registration will be transferred from the veterinary office to Broward County Animal Care as required by Florida law. You do not have to send any information to us.
If your veterinarian does not sell the Broward County Rabies Registration Tag, please check our listing of participating veterinarian and places where the tag can be purchased. Simply take a copy of your current Rabies Certificate with you as proof of vaccination when you go to buy the tag.

You can purchase the Rabies Registration Tag from Animal Care by mail. Send a copy of your current Rabies Certificate and a check or money order payable to the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to:

You should receive the tag in 2-4 weeks.
At Pet Supermarket Stores
You may purchase a Broward County Rabies Registration Tag at any Pet Supermarket store located in Broward County. Bring a copy of your pet’s current, one-year Rabies Certificate with you to the store.
Once you purchase the Rabies Registration Tag, the registration information will be transferred to Broward County Animal Care as required by Florida law. You do not have to send any information to us. View Pet Supermarket Locations.
You cannot purchase your pet’s first Rabies Registration Tag online, but you can renew the Rabies Registration Tag online. To renew online, you must provide proof of a current rabies vaccination either by faxing a copy of your Rabies Certificate to Broward County Animal Care at 954-359-1008 - (Attention" Web Lic”), or emailing a scanned copy to firstname.lastname@example.org. Once we receive a copy of your Rabies Certificate and process your payment, your pet's tag will arrive by mail within 2-4 weeks. The Rabies Registration Tag will only be issued upon receipt of a current, valid Rabies Certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian.
