About The Teaching Artist Recognition Award
Teaching artists are crucial to the sustainability and advancement of arts education. To increase public awareness of the importance of arts education in our everyday lives, the Arts Teacher of the Year Program was expanded in 2013 to recognize and promote not only school-based arts teachers, but also teaching artists working throughout Broward County schools and communities.
The Teaching Artist Recognition Award honors an outstanding teaching artist who is a member of the Broward Cultural Division's Arts Education Directory and who has demonstrated dedication, achievement and professionalism in the arts education field. The recipient of this award will be presented with a recognition plaque and a cash gift.
Who is eligible?
Teaching artists who are listed in Broward Cultural Division’s Arts Education Directory.
How is the Award recipient selected?
Teaching Artists complete and submit an application along with three (3) nomination letters from individuals and organizations with whom the teaching artist has worked. Broward Cultural Division verifies that all nominees are eligible and that the nomination information is complete. Nominations are then forwarded to the Arts Teacher of the Year selection committee.
When will the award be presented?
The recipient of the Teaching Artist Recognition Award will be announced at the 2014 Arts Teacher of the Year event on November 6, 2014 at Broward Center for the Performing Arts. All nominees will be acknowledged at the event.
How are awards publicized?
Press releases announcing the selection of the award recipient will be sent by Broward Cultural Division through its distribution channels which include media outlets, major institutional partners, government officials and community leaders, schools and community organizations.
- Announcement of the award recipient will also be included in a variety of publications produced by the Cultural Division.
- The award recipient will also receive a special designation in their Arts Education Directory listing.
