Name: Beth Ravitz
Artwork: Animal Garden, Reach for the Stars
Medium: Sculpture - Painted Metal
Earning BA, BFA and MFA degrees, Beth has been an artist her entire life. Prior to moving to Florida she was the owner of a textile converting company in New York City catering to the fashion industry. Translating her art and business expertise into an additional career in Florida, Beth has helped the City of Coral Springs and Tamarac obtain Public Art Ordinances. She chaired the Public Art Committee in Coral Springs for its first 7 years, created over 20 public art projects throughout Florida, has written Master and Cultural Plans for different Cities, and has consulted with Cities and Landscape Architecture firms to create and place Public Art. At various times Beth has been an Adjunct Art Professor, Gallery Director, lecturer, grant writer, and the recipient of art grants.
As a Public Artist and Public Art Consultant, Beth Ravitz makes a place into a work of art instead of just placing art in public locations. By creating a sense of meaning, and changing the public’s view of environments that were once unnoticed, Ravitz takes meaningful spaces and makes them functional and aesthetically beautiful. She is a true collaborator with the commissioning agency, conducts thorough research to gain an understating of the community’s history, the site’s past and current use, and makes every effort to reach out and engage the community in order to gain insight into their true desires and needs.
