Garage Green Initiatives

FLL’s Parking Garage Green Initiatives

Recycle

Throw your paper, plastic, cans and bottle in the recycle bins. The bins are located throughout the three garages at the elevators.

Benefits

  • Recycling reduces pollution and contamination risks from landfills.
  • 2,500,000 plastic bottles are used every hour. Most are thrown away. Recycling a plastic bottle saves 90 percent of the energy.

Find an Empty Parking Space

Availability signs are located on the roadway to the parking garages. Inside the garages, signs at the beginning of the isles show the number of open spaces. In the parking lanes, green lights indicate an open space and red lights show the full spaces.

Benefits

  • Reduces traffic congestion.
  • Improves traffic overflow.
  • Reduces travel time, emissions, and gas usage.
  • Improves air quality.

Reclaim Water from the Car Wash and Deck Cleanings

FLL's Detailing Service for Valet cars reclaim the water from car washing using this big rubber membrane.

Benefits

  • Reclaimed water has many uses including irrigation, decorative fountains, street sweeping operations, and fire protection.
  • Reclaimed water costs less than most other water sources.
  • Reduces stress on drinking water supplies.

EV Charging Stations

Three free EV charging stations for Tesla cars are available through Curbside Valet parking. Valet parking drop offs are located on the Departure (upper) Level at the curbs at Terminals 1 and 2, and between Terminals 3 and 4. Just ask for EV charging.

Benefits

  • Lower carbon dioxide footprint.
  • As low as 2 cents per mile operating cost.
  • Zero emissions.
  • Three-to-five times more efficient.

Tire Inflation Station

The free tire inflation station is located just before the main exit plaza in the Hibiscus Garage. You can access the main exit plaza from all three garages by using the connector bridges.

Benefits

  • Properly inflated tires increase tread life and improves fuel economy.
  • Low tire pressure increases road friction and can waste up to five percent of a tank of gas.
