Come Celebrate!

It’s time to celebrate! To mark the one-year anniversary our new Adoption Center, the community is invited to join us for a special adoption celebration on Saturday, November 18, from 10AM to 5PM, at the Animal Care Adoption Center, 2400 SW 42nd Street, Fort Lauderdale. The event is made possible as part of a grant received by the Petco Foundation to support lifesaving programs for pets in need throughout the County.

This is a community-focused event and will also feature animals that have been rescued by our partners. Animal Care Rescue Partners will have booths and animals available for adoption. Friends of Animal Care is helping rescues through sponsorships of adoption fees.

Bryan Carstensen (aka Miss Bryan), radio personality with the HITS 97.3 Radio, will also join the fun by broadcasting live from 11AM to 3PM, urging listeners to come out and adopt.

Adoption fees on all pets will be waived and a special anniversary gift will be given to all adopters. Coloring books and crayons will be available for children.

Pet adoptions include spaying/neutering, a physical exam, all necessary vaccinations, a Broward County Rabies Registration tag and a microchip.

Holiday Closings

Our Adoption Center will be closed on the following official County Holidays:

  • Friday, November 10, in honor of Veterans Day
  • Thursday, November 23, for Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday, November 24, for the day after Thanksgiving

Is Your Pet Protected?

With the holiday season quickly approaching, now is the time to ensure your pet is protected with a Broward County Rabies Registration tag. The tag identifies your pet in case he becomes lost from home.

In addition, boarding kennels and airlines require that your pet be vaccinated and registered if you plan to travel during Thanksgiving through New Year’s. Be sure you are clear regarding the rules and requirements for any pet boarding facilities, as well as the airline you may be utilizing.

Purchase of the tag requires that your pet have a current rabies vaccination. Both the shot and tag are available at our Rabies Clinic events. You can also take your pet to a veterinary clinic and then purchase the tag online or from a tag supplier.
