Alice Zendel Simon, a Coral Springs resident since 1986, and Westchester County, N.Y, native, was appointed to the Broward Cultural Council by
Vice Mayor and now current Commissioner Stacy Ritter in 2008. She currently serves on the Executive Committee and is an active member of the Council’s Public Relations and Advocacy committees, as well as a grant review panelist for the Broward Cultural Division. Alice also participated in Creative Broward’s 2020 Cultural Tourism Task Force.
For 15 years, she was employed by the Broward Homebound Program as Director of Business Development and Case Manager, advocating for the elderly and disabled. As a Public Relations Consultant to Sherwood Optical Studio in Pompano Beach, she developed and implemented a successful public relations/public affairs program. Alice was an Account Executive, Supervisor and Editor with the international public relations firm Hill & Knowlton in both its New York headquarters, and Washington, D.C. office serving Fortune 500 companies and associations over 7 years. Her first job was with MCI Telecommunications in its Washington, D.C. headquarters.
Alice is Chairman of the Coral Springs Community Chest and is a member of the Coral Springs Customer Involved Government committee. She was selected by City Manager Erdal Donmez to participate in Vision Summit 2022, and by former Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook as one of 11 individuals on the Commission’s Compensation Study Committee. Alice also donates her time on the steering committee of various political campaigns, and served on the White House Transition Team in 1981. She’s been an activist for excellence and quality education in the public and religious schools, a 26 year member of ORT, and life member of NCJW.
Alice received a Bachelor of Arts degree from American University and completed graduate courses in business, economics and journalism at George Washington and New York Universities. She is married to Richard Simon, an Architect and President of Simon Architectural Group. Alice is the proud mom of 2 UF graduates – Andrea, President of the creative firm Something SIMON Inc., and Marissa, an Assistant Buyer for Collective Brands. Alice’s love of the arts is strong as she frequently attends the theatre, concerts, museums and art shows.
