Edith Gooden-Thompson is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She Graduated from Dillard High School in Broward County and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Language Arts, a Master's Degree in Administration and Supervision, and has completed 60 hours towards a Ph.Ed. in Leadership. She has worked throughout Broward County as an educator, beginning as a teacher and retiring as a principal in 1998, after thirty-two years of service. She is married to Maurice Thompson and together they have four daughters and three wonderful grandchildren.
Since retiring from the Broward County School System she started EGT & Associates, a business and professional consulting company in Plantation, Florida. In her spare time she volunteers for numerous church, civic, and social groups raising money for scholarships, providing quality affordable homes to the less fortunate, and enjoying the cultural amenities of Broward County.
