This native New Yorker, living in South Florida, is a founding member of the African World Artists Collective (AWAC) and a former Board member of the Gold Coast Jazz Society. He works for Nova Southeastern University and loves to travel, especially to Mexico, where he gathers photos and experiences for his articles published in African American Travel Magazine and Essence.
Mr. Mattox's reviews of jazz CDs are published in local papers, CL/Metro Link and New Times. He had a radio show spotlighting jazz music in South Florida on WSRF and an urban contemporary gospel show on WAVS. Michael is a visual artist, as well, using the mediums of oil, acrylic and collage.
