Broward Cultural Council Welcomes
Arts for LA's Danielle Brazell
at Annual Planning Forum

The Broward Cultural Council invites members of the community to participate in an arts and cultural ideas exchange at its Annual Planning Forum, on Thursday, February 13 at 5:30 p.m. at ArtServe - wine and cheese reception in the art gallery at 5:30 p.m; presentations at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

The forum is an annual update for the Broward Cultural Council. This year's forum features a very special guest speaker, Arts for LA's Executive Director Danielle Brazell who will talk about her involvement in transitioning an ad-hoc steering committee to a highly visible arts advocacy organization serving the greater Los Angeles region. Her presentation will serve to introduce Broward Cultural Council's advocacy initiative,
Arts 954 - Broward's Voice for All Creatives.

The reception for the evening will open with the DCA String Quartet from the Dillard Center for the Arts, who were commissioned to play at a gallery opening during Art Basel in 2013. Highlights of the forum include:

  • Broward Cultural Council's Accomplishments in 2013
  • Council Goals for 2014
  • Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community Overview
  • Guest Speaker Danielle Brazell
  • Special performance by dancer and choreographer Pablo Malco
  • Open Q & A Forum to Hear Arts Ideas

Under Brazell's stewardship, Arts for LA has become a formidable coalition advancing the arts in the largest county in the country. In addition to surveying candidates seeking election in Los Angeles County, Arts for LA built a custom online communications infrastructure that allows for greater exchange of information and resources among the arts and arts education community.

The 24 members of the Broward Cultural Council, appointed by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, recommend County cultural policy, arts and culture incentives, and public art.

RSVP Online by February 12; and for more information about the Annual Planning Forum, contact Rowena Nocom, at 954-357-7503.

This event has been hosted by ArtServe and sponsored by Business for the Arts of Broward
