Originating from Washington DC, Thomas Sayre majored in English and Studio Art and graduated summa cum laude. He received a 3-year grant from the Ford Foundation to create sculpture at the University of Michigan. He later attended
the Master of Fine Arts Program at the Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Then in 1981, together with architect, Steven D. Schuster, Thomas Sayre formed Clearscapes, a multi-disciplinary design firm, located in Raleigh, NC. Clearscapes is involved in with building designs, product design, and both large and small scale artwork.
Thomas Sayre is continually commissioned to do public sculptures for various collections across the United States and and internationally.
