"Home of the Brave"
Integrated Art - Plaza Design
Broward-based artist Beryl Solla's brightly colored design imbues hope, growth and change. The images are about addiction and recovery. The staff and clients traced their hands and inscribed messages on them. These hand-prints are a part of the installed piece which includes:
- Ceramic tile for the front wall of the building, patio (including table and benches) and 2 fountains, with a total of 1,550 sq. ft.
- Handprints of the clients and staff with recovery messages included
- Images developed to reflect the goals of the program: House represents home and security; Hand represents empowerment; Heart represents love; Eye represents one's higher power or enlightenment
Viewing is by appointment only, please call 954-341-3925.
"The work is about hope, growth and change. I want it to have a positive effect on those brave souls in treatment and those even braver souls who are guiding them through the treatment process.
The first step in making this piece was talking with staff at BARC. I learn about the goals and philosophy of the program. I developed the four images to reflect those goals and ideals. The house represents home and security, the eye one's higher power or enlightenment, the hand empowerment and the heart love."
