The Family Success Administration Division provides one-stop entry to comprehensive human services in partnership with community-based providers in Broward County, assisting individuals and families to achieve and maintain health, safety, and economic stability. The division strives to assist those at risk of losing their homes due to foreclosure or eviction, unable to pay for food and/or utilities, and/or in need of job training and employability skills and/or budgeting skills. Family Success Centers provide:

  • Integrated intake assessment
  • Crisis case management
  • Self-sufficiency (community-based) case management
  • Emergency assistance [rent/mortgage and utility assistance to eligible person(s)]
  • Information and referrals

The Community Action Agency provides the following:

  • The CSBG funded Self-Sufficiency Case Management Program which assists individuals and families in setting goals, learning skills and accessing services they need to become self-sufficient. Services provided include education, training, books, tools, child care, and bus passes. Clients are accepted on the basis of income (125 percent of poverty level or below) and the desire to achieve.

  • The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) assists low income Broward County residents (150 percent of federal poverty level or below). (LIHEAP) applicants may receive yearly electric assistance from $150 to $900 depending on their income and eligibility. LIHEAP Application Package (PDF)

The Assets for Independence Program provides grant management and accounting for the subsidized savings and wealth building program administered jointly with Urban League of Broward County. This program is open to low-income residents (200 percent of poverty guidelines) of Broward County, depending on availability of funded slots. The program supports savings for first time ownerships, post-secondary education and small business capitalization. The subsidy is up to $4,000 per customer, based on a percentage match for customer savings.
