Broward County 's Beach Renourishment Project (Segment III)
Week Ending July 17, 2005

During the week of July 11 to July 17, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock placed 41,796 cubic yards of sand onto 655 feet of beach.  The total quantity of sand placed to date is 561,383 onto 5765 feet of beachfront.  The beach is now constructed from Magnolia Terrace in Hollywood to the La Mer Condominiums in Hallandale Beach.  The contractor continues to construct southward towards the Broward/Miami-Dade County line.  The dredge experienced engine problems during the past week, and was in Port Everglades for about a day.  Additionally, due to a squall, the floating pipeline to which the dredge was attached for pumpout sustained some damage and underwent repair.

At the groin construction site at John U. Lloyd Beach State Park, construction continued on structure S-3, the southernmost T-head groin.  Construction of foundation mattresses continued at the rail siding in Opa-locka.
