Broward County 's Beach Renourishment Project (Segment III)
Week Ending May 29, 2005

As of May 29, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company had placed 42 dredge loads of sand on the beach at south Hollywood , totaling nearly 168,000 cubic yards.

Nearly 1,500 feet of beach has been completed from Magnolia Terrace south almost to the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa. About 8,800 cubic yards of rocks and rubble have been placed at the rock disposal area offshore of south Hollywood.

Borrow areas 4 and 6, the two smallest sources of sand located offshore of Pompano Beach and Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, are nearly depleted of sand. Borrow areas 1, 2, and 3 will continue to be utilized. A map of the Borrow areas can be found on the Project Documents page. Just click on the Project Documents button in on the left and open the Beach Nourishment Project Update presentation and click on Borrow Areas.
