Housing Counseling as a Resource for Homebuyers Returning to the Housing Market after a Foreclosure This presentation, sponsored by the National Association of Realtors, will focus on the role of housing counseling in the home buying process, particularly for buyers returning to the housing market after a foreclosure. Housing counseling is an effective tool to help people financially prepare to buy a home or re-enter the housing market after a foreclosure, providing advice to potential homebuyers on repairing or protecting their credit and assisting them in preparing for mortgage application, budget planning, and foreclosure prevention. Panelists will include a housing counselor from Neighborhood Housing Services, Chicago; Leah Coldham, Director of Housing Counseling Programs with the Housing Partnership Network; and Rebekah King, Policy Associate with NHC.
