SEVEN50 DEBUTS REPORT AT ITS FINAL SUMMIT
The concluding installment of the Seven50 public summit was held on January 15, 2014 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center with the purpose of introducing the Southeast Florida Prosperity Plan. Tri-county residents, study participants, and government officials were among the more than 300 attendees.
Welcoming remarks were made by Broward County Commissioner and Southeast Florida Regional Partnership (SFRP) Vice-Chair, Sue Gunzburger and City of Greenacres Mayor and SFRP Chair, Samuel Ferreri. A booklet containing the vision and executive summary was distributed and reviewed with attendees by Marcela Camblor-Custsaimanis (Seven 50 Project Director), Victor Dover (Dover Kohl & Partners Principal) and Jason King (Dover Kohl & Partners Project Director). A short film highlighting the plan was shown to attendees as well. Electronic polling was done throughout the event to capture audience interest in various topics. The “Coalitions of the Future” panel then gathered which included a roster of SFRP committee members and directors from arts and transportation county entities. The panel discussed ideas for implementing the plan and focused on tri-county collaboration and innovation as being a springboard to cultivate South Florida into a thriving and economically sound region. Closing remarks were made by Indian River County Commissioner, Peter O’Bryan and Monroe County Commissioner, Heather Carruthers.
