​AMENDMENT TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE RULES DOCUMENT:  BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN
​​On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners adopted an amendment to the Administrative Rules Document: Broward County Land Use Plan, creating a new Article 10 entitled, “Rules for Implementation and Administration of Broward County Land Use Plan Policy 1.07.07,” regarding affordable housing.  Read Article 10 (PDF)
 

​CS/CS/HB 979:  HOMELESSNESS  
​The CS/CS/HB 979 bill passed and if approved by the Governor will be effective July 1, 2014.  The bill specifies that $3.8 million will be put into the General Appropriations Act and $200,000 will be allocated for training and technical assistance.  The bill also revises requirements and qualifications regarding "Challenge Grants.” 

 

​SHIP DISTRIBUTION ESTIMATES 
​The Senate and House budget conference committee reached an agreement on April 22, 2014 on the level of funding for housing programs:

State Housing Initiatives Partnership program (SHIP)  $100,000,000
State Apartment Incentive Loan program (SAIL)  $ 67,660,000
Total: $167,660,000

This appropriation level represents 75 percent of the funds estimated to be distributed into the housing trust funds and available for appropriation during FY 2014-2015. It is also the highest level of funding since FY 2007-2008.
