Project REACH Announces Winners of Homeless Resources App Contest

Project REACH app winnerIn March of 2012 the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Center for Innovation held a technology competition called Project REACH (Real-time Electronic Access for Caregivers and Homeless) which challenged participants to develop a streamlined smart-phone app to access local homeless resources.  The winning app need to easily access local availability of food, health care, housing, counseling, employment and other services for Veterans and other people facing homelessness.   Joshua Temkin and Jim Horner were announced as the grand prize winners for creating “Homeless REACH.”  The contest was sponsored by the VA, Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS).   Homeless REACH is available for free for both Android and iPhones in iTunes’ App Store.  More…
