Affordable Senior Housing in Short Supply

residential building The country is experiencing enormous growth of the senior population; as the sizeable baby boomer generation ages and living costs increase, we are faced with a serious shortage affordable senior housing stock.  Shillman House, in Framingham Massachusetts, is an example of a residential complex that includes 90 subsidized apartments for low income seniors.  The complex was built only three years ago and the wait list remains long.  Building new affordable senior complexes is costly and often resisted by locals, which adds to lack of housing supply.  More…
