The 2013 Point-in-Time Count and Beyond
United States Interagency Council on Homelessness

This year the Point-in-Time (PIT) survey, held nationally in the month of January, received remarkable federal support from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Health and Human Services and U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH). The amount of staff and volunteers throughout the country who are involved in the count is staggering and an affirmation of the commitment exhibited to eliminate homelessness. The PIT data serves as an integral step of the Obama Administration’s strategic plan,“Opening Doors: Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness.” The plan relies heavily upon the PIT counts to guide implementation of the most effectual and successful programing.
