$44.1 Billion DOT and HUD FY 2014 Budget is Approved

US House Appropriations Committee Starting in Fiscal Year (FY) 2014 the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will experience a decrease in spending and increase in funding for critical infrastructural investments.  Several amendments were made to the bill including:  rescinding unobligated funding for MagLev rail projects, increasing funding for planning and rail crossing safety, updates to funding the California High Speed Rail, increasing the Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA) funding by $3 million and restrain from passing legislation that “increases poverty in the U.S.”  More...
