HUD Publishes 2011 American Housing Survey Profile

July 17, 20132011 Housing Profile:  United States, American Housing Survey (AHS) Profile

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Census Bureau recently published the paper “2011 Housing Profile: United States, American Housing Survey (AHS) Profile.” The 2011 survey found that the median purchase price paid for a home in 2011 was $110,000 which is a 2.3 percent increase from 2009, while the median purchase price for newer home construction was $235,000, a decrease of 2.1 percent. The AHS is an in-depth look at the country’s housing statistics, using the same housing units since 1985 and comparing the data that is collected every other year. The profile summarizes the massive amount of data into: housing inventory tallies, percentages of various features of owner-occupied housing units and physical and financial characteristics of owner-occupied housing units.  More...
