$73.9 Million Allotted Towards Helping Florida’s Homeless

U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced that it awarded almost $74 million to continue support for over 300 of Florida’s homeless assistance programs via the Continuum of Care program. The news means that current HUD-assisted local homeless programs will continue to be operational throughout the next year. HUD will also announce supplemental funding for even more local homeless programs in the coming months. Shaun Donovan, HUD Secretary comments, “The evidence is clear that every dollar we spend on those programs that help find a stable home for our homeless neighbors not only saves money but quite literally saves lives. We know these programs work and we know these grants can mean the difference between homeless persons and families finding stable housing or living on our streets.”  More…
