HUD_Aug2013In an effort to stabilize and improve the national housing market Obama Administration releases a monthly scorecard of the U.S. housing market. The scorecards are compiled by data collected by both the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Highlights from August’s scorecard include a 42 percent drop of underwater homeowners, a 7.7 percent rise in home prices (since 2012), and the Neighborhood Stabilization Program has accounted for 25,000 newly constructed and rehabilitated units along with direct assistance to 10,000 homeowners (during second quarter of 2013).
