South Florida Tops Nation in Housing Burdened Residents

The  South Florida Regional Planning Council announced data that cites South Florida is number one, as compared to the nation’s largest 150 metro areas, for “housing burden” (spending more than 30 percent of income on housing costs).   Housing-burdened renters have increased 47 percent in the past 14 years, totaling 62 percent of all South Florida renters.  The situation has developed from the region’s stagnant salaries coupled with rising housing costs.  More…
