In an effort to stabilize and improve the national housing market Obama Administration releases a monthly scorecard of the U.S. housing market.  The scorecards are compiled by data collected by both the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of the Treasury.  Highlights from February’s scorecard include homeowners equity rose $412 billion in 2013’s fourth quarter, new home purchases increased 9.6 percent in January, the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) helped increase new construction and rehabilitation, Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP), Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) and foreclosure mitigation programs continue to relieve millions of homeowners.  More…
