Boston is making great strides towards encouraging home sustainability by developing its
E+ Green Building Demonstration Program.  The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) selected Urbanica to build highly sustainable and energy efficient mixed-income townhomes.  All four of the townhomes feature photovoltaic panels, superinsulated envelopes, double-stud construction providing extra insulation and efficient ceilings, all of which greatly reduce the heating and cooling costs should pay for themselves in six to eight years through utility savings, incentives and tax credits.  Three of the units were sold at market rate and one was sold at almost half the market rate to a moderate-income buyer.  More...
