New Elevating Devices 
To get a permit to install a new elevating device, a licensed contractor must submit a Permit Application pay all fees, and provide three copies of the design plans to us. You can receive real-time updates on the progress of the review process by email, phone or fax by signing up for our Automated Customer Response Program. Email us at elevators@broward.org to sign up.
Proof of current General Liability and Workers Compensation/Workers Exemption must be submitted upon issuance of the permit.
Broward County Building Code Division must be referenced as a Certificate Holder on the Certificate of Insurance:

Once the installation is complete, you must contact us to schedule an inspection. Once approved, a Certificate of Operation is issued. 
Temporary permits are issued only for construction use during a new installation and must be renewed monthly. For more information, please call 954-765-4508.  
To get a permit to modify an existing elevating device, a licensed contractor must submit a Permit Application, pay all fees, and provide one (1) set of the scope of work and plans to our office. 
Proof of current General Liability and Workers Compensation/Workers Exemption must be submitted upon issuance of the permit.
Once the modifications are completed, you must contact us to schedule an inspection. Once approved, a Certificate of Operation is issued. For more information, please call 954-765-4508.
Emergency permits are issued on a case-by-case basis. The following is required:
- completed Elevator Permit Application
 - one set of the scope of work on company letterhead
 - current Certificates of Insurance for General Liability and Workers Compensation/Exemption
 - certified copy of recorded Notice of Commencement
