Get Jammin’ at the Healthy Community Zone Wellness Jamboree

You’re invited to the BMSD’s Healthy Community Zone Wellness Jamboree on Saturday, October 7th from 11AM-3PM at Reverend Samuel Delevoe Memorial Park, 2520 NW 6th Street Fort Lauderdale. Fresh produce giveaway compliments of Feeding South Florida, health screenings, music, line dancing, and live demonstrations at Destination Fitness (free outdoor gym/fitness hub) are among the highlights at this community celebration. Free lunch, games, raffle prizes and more.


Bring Your Pooch to Barktoberfest October 7-8

Nothing can compare to the fun enjoyed by dog owners and their best friends at the County’s K9 splash events. Stop by Quiet Waters Park, 401 S. Powerline Road in Deerfield Beach between 9AM-4PM and watch your pal splash away with all of their four legged friends. Admission is $5 per dog per 50 minutes session. Destination Fridays Takes on Motown

Get ready for the sounds of Mary Wells, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Michael Jackson and more as Destination Fridays transforms the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center to Motown. On Friday, October 6th, from 6-9:30PM, dance to classic Motown music, enjoy great food with a signature cocktail. The program is for ages 21-and-over. Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations Continue

Hispanic Heritage Month is a great time to recognize contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the group’s heritage and culture. On Saturday, October 7th, stop by the Miramar Branch Library & Education Center and Celebrate Latin Culture with Marci Poppins! Treat yourself to a fun, colorful pageant of music, dance and family friendly activities from 11AM-12PM. You can also visit the Northwest Regional Library, from 4-5PM and hear violist David Pedraza’s interpretation of the Great Hispanic Classical Composers.


Have You Taken Dog Smarts 101?

Is your pooch giving you a tough time? The remedy is within your reach at the next Dog Smarts 101 class on Tuesday, October 10th, from 6-7PM, at West Regional Library, 8601 W. Broward Boulevard, Plantation. This class will teach you all about dog behavior and why dogs do the things they do. The class is free for all residents and pets will not be permitted to the program.
