Chip LaMarca is a lifelong resident of Broward’s Fourth District who has earned a reputation for being a citizens’ advocate and a respected voice for the taxpayers he is honored to represent.

Born in Winchester, Massachusetts, to a hard working, middle class family, Chip moved to Broward County as a young child following the sudden passing of his father, living in the Coral Ridge Isles area of Fort Lauderdale. He attended Floranada Elementary School, Rickards Middle School, and finally Northeast High School, graduating in 1986. It was during his upbringing by a young single mother that he gained an appreciation for hard work, honesty, and traditional family values.

Chip is truly a great American success story. After attending Broward College and later Boston University, Chip returned to Broward County and followed in the footsteps of his late father, helping to bring jobs to Broward in the construction industry. After establishing himself as a knowledgeable and trusted manager and supervisor, Chip opened LaMarca Construction in 2006 after 20 years of experience in the construction industry.

Chip became active in public service in 2002, serving on many City of Lighthouse Point boards addressing traffic calming, community appearance, code enforcement, and the architectural committee for the City’s Fire/Police/EMS Station. In 2005, Chip was elected to a seat on the Lighthouse Point City Commission after running a campaign based on integrity, public safety, and good governance.

While on the City Commission, Chip was a champion of responsible government, keeping a close watch on the city budget and making sure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly. Using Chip’s knowledge and expertise in construction, the commission was able to complete numerous critical infrastructure improvements preceding its 50 Year Anniversary, all while holding the line on taxes and controlling government spending. Additionally, Chip is proud to always have supported small business in Lighthouse Point and to have led the fight in keeping taxes – and government spending – low.

Outside of his responsibilities as a business owner, public servant, and homeowner, Chip is active as a past president and current board member of the Exchange Club of Pompano Beach as well as Hugs for Kids and the Broward Children’s Center. Chip married the former Eileen Dorrego in 1995 and the couple has been living in Lighthouse Point since their marriage.
