A food and beverage tax similar to the tax in Miami-Dade County to provide much-needed programs for the homeless is being proposed here in Broward County.
As of right now, a one percent (1%) tax would be collected on all food and beverage sales by establishments that are licensed by the State of Florida to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, except for hotels and motels.
Only businesses that make over $400,000 in gross receipts annually would be obligated to collect this tax. What do you think about a food and beverage tax to help the homeless here in Broward County?
I welcome your comments and want to hear which issues are important to you.
