Two Broward County Emergency Management staff, Lottie Brown and Rich Perkel, both senior emergency management specialists, each received their Florida Professional Emergency Manager Certification, which recognizes individuals who possess the experience, knowledge and skills to effectively manage a comprehensive emergency management program. Qualifications for this distinction include four or more years demonstrating direct work experience in comprehensive emergency management, two of which must be in the state of Florida.

Mary Ann Caldron

Mary Ann Caldron, Public Art and Design assistant, retired on February 28 after joining the Cultural Division in 1998. Prior to joining the County, she worked for a local law firm and for the cities of Hollywood and Hallandale Beach. She cites the biggest change she has experienced during her tenure is in technology: from slides to CDs to online application systems.

Blue skies are ahead for Cindy Shulman, Main Library regional manager, who is retiring March 8 after 32 years of service to Broward County.

Congratulations to Jill Horwitz, Natural Resources Planning and Management, and her husband, Andrew, on the birth of their daughter, Sienna Lillian Golden, who was born January 25, weighing in at 9 lbs., 3 oz., and measuring 21 inches long. Sienna is joined at home by her proud, big sister, Ginger.
