Leadership Team Named for New Enterprise Resource Planning Program

John Bruno, chief information officer for Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) and project director for the new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) initiative, recently announced the ERP leadership team.

Lead technical director for the ERP program is Carlos Alvarado, who is also the current ETS Application Services director. With more than 20 years of experience in the IT field working on diverse transformational initiatives, Alvarado joined Broward County in July 2006. He has led large-scale projects related to mergers and acquisitions and provided strategic leadership in developing and deploying technologies.

Melissa Grimm was named the project manager. In her new role, Grimm will oversee the management of the entire ERP phased-approach project including all planning, vendor management, scheduling, project management, communications and pre- and post-implementation support. She joined Broward County last August 2012 as the director of change management for the County’s easyPay project. Previously, Grimm was the director of ERP for the Broward County School Board. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Florida.

James Carbone has been named the ERP Business Integration director. Carbone will work with County teams to evaluate business processes, ensure centralized integration within ERP systems and re-engineer business processes that will improve operations and save money. He joined Broward County in 2006 and worked as a program manager for the Office of Management and Budget. Carbone, who has 23 years of engineering and management experience with private sector firms, has a master’s of business administration degree and a bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering.

Katherine Burnell continues in her role supporting the ERP program office as an administrative coordinator II.

Broward Emergency Management Division experienced a “baby boom” with the birth of three new bundles of joy since January.

On January 22, Ginny Hazen, Emergency Management section manager, became a grandmother again when her daughter, Brittany, and son-in-law, Andy, welcomed a bouncing baby boy, Braddox Walker. He weighed in at 8 lbs., 7 oz. and was 20 inches long. His big sister, Mia, is in love.

Another new grandmother is Adrienne Britto, administrative manager II. On February 25, Britto’s daughter, Ashley Hayes, gave birth to a beautiful 6 lbs., 8 oz. baby girl, Amira Faisal Hayes.

On March 11, Toby and Debbie Cherisma, contract/grants administrator, gave birth to baby Tobias, who was a little more than 7 lbs. and nearly 20 inches long.

After 38 years of service, Patricia A. Taylor, economic development specialist with the Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD), will retire on April 30. Taylor served as a liaison to other County departments and economic development partners. Her primary focus at OESBD was disaster preparedness, including business continuity planning to assist businesses with their recovery. Prior to her position with the OESBD, Taylor served as the acting section manager for the County’s Family and Child Development Division managing day-to-day operations of the Community Action Agency. She also held several social worker positions for the Division.

Taylor’s retirement plans include spending more time with her family and increasing her volunteerism in the community.

Cyndy Singer, Transit Division, will retire this month after 27 years with Broward County. The Transit Division will host a farewell luncheon to honor Singer on Friday, April 26, from noon to 3 p.m. at Government Center West in the second floor Hearing Rooms (A1 – A2). Cost is $20 per person and includes lunch and gift contribution. Additional gift donations are appreciated.
