Grant Awarded to Continue Resilient Redesign Planning in City of Dania Beach
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has selected Broward County and the City of Dania Beach for a 2014 Regional Sustainable Environmental Science (RESES) Grant Award. The County proposal was just one of six projects to be funded nationwide.
Under this grant, the EPA will provide technical assistance along with university and consulting partners to further develop and evaluate initial resilient redesign concepts designed to engage stakeholders and incorporate cost-benefit scenarios. These tools are expected to guide next steps in the prioritization and advancement of community resiliency planning, while providing a model for other local governments in southeast Florida. More...
Broward County, Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact Named Climate Action Champions by Federal Government
The US Department of Energy (DOE) has recognized Broward County and the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact (“Compact”) as Climate Action Champions following a nationwide competition. In their application, the Compact counties reaffirmed individual county-level greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets and identified region-wide goals of 10 percent reduction by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050. The Climate Action Champion award will significantly assist Compact efforts and Broward County in meeting these targets and build a more efficient, resilient region. More…
Attend a Sustainability Stewards Workshop!
After three years, the Sustainability Stewards Workshops just keep getting better!
The 2014 workshop series featured a variety of sustainability topics, including water conservation, clean air and green fleet management, food systems planning and food rescue.
The 2015 workshop series is being planned now!
Look for more great workshops on a variety of Sustainability Hot Topics, like green infrastructure, art and placemaking, messaging/communications, and local green business.
