NATURE OF WORK
This is routine work in the operation of a motor vehicle and transportation of bus operators.
Work involves the daily transporting of mail and parts to and from county bus facilities and the transportation of regular and relief bus operators commencing and concluding their assigned bus roles at defined relief points. Work is performed within established guidelines and follows predetermined routes and schedules. Work is reviewed by a superior on a daily basis.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Transports mail, paperwork, vehicle parts and other items to and from county mass transit facilities according to assigned rate ad schedules.
Transports bus operators to and from mass transit facilities according to assigned route and schedule.
performs minor maintenance checks on vehicle; cleans and prepares vehicle for scheduled trips.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Some knowledge of state and county traffic and motor vehicle regulations.
Some knowledge of the geography of the county.
Ability to operate the assigned vehicle in the prescribed manner.
Ability to detect improper functioning mechanical systems on the assigned vehicle.
Ability to make minor adjustments and to do minor servicing of automotive equipment.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and
linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of a valid Florida chauffeur's license at time of appointment.
