NATURE OF WORK
This is professional sales and marketing work in promoting the convention and tourism industry with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Work involves functioning as liaison between the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the advertising agency selected to implement the CVB media plan. Position incumbent coordinates all marketing activities, as well as those of the advertising agency, including creative recommendations and final approval of all agency materials and billings. Independent judgment is exercised in completion of work assignments within established guidelines. Work is reviewed periodically through conferences, written reports, and observation of results obtained.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Serves as the primary liaison between the Bureau and the advertising agency to implement the advertising plan. Coordinates all collateral production; monitors creative guidelines on behalf of the Bureau.
Coordinates cooperative advertising projects involving the local hospitality industry.
Approves advertising work orders; processes and approves all advertising billings.
Coordinates special advertising promotional reviews and analyzes local media proposals.
Coordinates the Bureau advertising fulfillment program, coordinates the selection and distribution of all promotional giveaway items.
Coordinates the highway brochure distribution program and other related promotional work as required.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of tourism, convention marketing, and advertising.
Considerable knowledge of the research techniques used in tourism and convention marketing and advertising.
Considerable knowledge of sales and communications techniques.
Ability to direct and implement an effective advertising plan.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in business administration, advertising, marketing, or closely related field; considerable experience in tourism, convention marketing or advertising work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
