NATURE OF WORK
This is supervisory and administrative work in the County's water management program.
Work involves the responsibility for supervising the work of the County's aquatic management and maintenance program in keeping with federal and state specifications. Work includes coordinating funding for cooperative programs with other governmental units. Work is performed with considerable independence and initiative in accomplishing program objectives. Work is reviewed by an administrative superior through conferences, reports and observation of program results.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Plans and directs the activities of an aquatic management and maintenance program.
Supervises program personnel engaged in flood control and aquifer recharging field operations.
Instructs personnel in the use of new aquatic maintenance methods and techniques and conducts in-service training programs.
Coordinates with state, county and city agencies on funding for aquatic maintenance programs.
Assists in the preparation of funding and program reports.
Advises superiors regarding the use of equipment, herbicides, biological agents and other materials necessary for an efficient aquatic maintenance program.
Performs related work as required.

Considerable knowledge of materials, methods and techniques used in an aquatic plant management program.
Considerable knowledge of equipment used in an aquatic maintenance program.
Considerable knowledge of pertinent occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of a water management program.
Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of an aquatic maintenance program.
Ability to prepare clear and concise oral and written reports.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited two year college or university with major course work in botany or biology; four (4) years experience in aquatic plant management programs; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
