NATURE OF WORK
This is skilled computer graphic work involving the design and production of county publications, forms, stationery, newsletters, flyers and other collateral materials.
Work requires basic level design skills, as well as two-color print production skills. The work requires a high level of computer skills in desktop publishing programs. Work is performed under supervision but incumbent may exercise independent judgement and work directly with clients. Work is reviewed for quality and creativity.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Designs forms, stationery, envelopes, memos, flyers, newsletters, certificates, and other collateral.
Operates computer to produce one- and two-color artwork for printing using various desktop publishing software programs.
Operates scanner and other graphic arts equipment.
Organizes assignments to ensure production deadlines are met.
Meets with clients to discuss assignments.
Prepares production reports and other records.
Maintains files for artwork.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design, color and typography.
Knowledge of print production for one and two-color work.
Knowledge of the operation of a computer and the use of graphic design software programs.
Ability to design and produce electronic artwork for one and two-color work utilizing desktop publishing programs.
Ability to organize and coordinate multiple, time-sensitive assignments and maintain records.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and
appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by course work in commercial art, graphic design or related field; experience in commercial art, including some experience in operating desktop publishing software programs; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
