NATURE OF WORK
This is complex, professional administrative and financial work assisting the President of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau in the direction and operation of the Bureau. Responsibilities require an extensive knowledge of the operation of the county governmental system and its financial structure. Assignments are received in both specific and general terms with wide latitude for determining methods and procedures. Work is subject to review by the GFLCVB President for determining adherence to the County's established ordinances, rules and administrative regulations.
Directs operations of the Convention & Visitors Bureau's
Finance and Administrative Section; ensures compliance with all governmental policies and procedures.
Prepares proposed and final budgets for the presentation to budget committees, the County Administrator and the County Commission.
Directs accounting procedures; assigns accounting functions and responsibilities to staff; analyzes monthly financial statements; prepares comments and explanations of performance trends.
Coordinates the activities of the agency and its subdivisions with those of other County departments and, when necessary, with comparable organizations in other public and private jurisdictions.
Monitors quality and service levels provided to customers and develop customer feedback programs to support the continuous improvement process for the Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Provides professional level staff assistance to an administrative superior and department head in special areas of operation; assists and advises on matters pertaining to programs and projects assigned; facilitates the accomplishment of work through providing, obtaining, and coordinating a variety of services.
Assigns and reviews the work of clerical and professional staff; assumes responsibilities for the administration of project activities, operations, development of schedules and procedures and the preparation of related reports and documents.
Recommends and implements organizational and administrative changes.
Reviews existing organizational patterns, work relationships, space, equipment, and manpower utilization; promotes effective operations through standardization, improvement, simplification, and installation of new operating systems.
Conducts internal audits; assists independent and County auditors including furnishing requested materials and implementation of recommendations.
Controls all purchasing and insures that all purchases comply with current SDBE minority purchasing program requirements.
Develops operational procedures regarding all financial functions within the agency.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Thorough knowledge of the principles of management and their application to the administration of governmental affairs, financial planning, debt structuring and debt administration, enterprise and governmental accounting and auditing principles.
Thorough knowledge of budgetary principles and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of public and business administration.
Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of supervision, organization and administration.
Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in establishing, applying and interpreting departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to initiate and install administrative programs and procedures and to evaluate their effectiveness.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in marketing, public or business administration or field closely related to area of assignment; six (6) years experience in highly responsible administrative work closely related to area of assignment including four (4) years supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
