NO MORE. NO More Silence, No More Violence.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month. This year’s theme, “NO MORE. No more silence, no more violence,” underscores the importance of educating everyone to speak out against sexual assault. View video.

The County's Nancy J. Cotterman Center (NJCC) is promoting the prevention of sexual violence and child abuse through special events and public education during the observance. Several local activities planned include:

  • Governmental Center Lobby Exhibit- April  1 – 30
    A powerful exhibit of survivor art and awareness at the Governmental Center, 115 S. Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
  • Family Fun and Resource Fair – Broward AWARE! Protecting Our Children- April 12
    A free special event for families and their children. Features safety presentations, entertainment, games, raffles and fun for everyone. The program is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Roosevelt Gardens Park, 2841 N.W. 11 Street, Fort Lauderdale.
  • Denim Day- (April 22), a day to dress in blue denim to show visible support and encourage everyone to speak out about the issues.

About Us

The Nancy J. Cotterman Center is Broward County's Children's Advocacy Center and Certified Rape Crisis Center

It is the mission of the NJCC to improve and enhance the quality of life for victims of sexual assault and child abuse through effective forensically sensitive interventions, implemented by professionals specializing in the fields of sexual assault and child abuse. NJCC provides a safe, non-threatening environment for victims and supportive family members. Services are intended to assist in matters of public safety and to help individuals and families in their recovery. NJCC provides the following services at no charge to victims, and their non-offending family members.

  • Crisis Unit
  • Counseling Unit
  • Child Protection Teams
