Airport
Story 1
Before the Event
- Call your airline for information on flight arrivals and departures before, during and after an emergency. Operations may be interrupted.
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry Airport are not shelters. There are no provisions to provide housing for the public during an emergency.
- Do not park your car in the airport's garages. Garage parking spaces are used to store airport-related vehicles and support equipment.
- In the event of a weather emergency, such as a tropical storm, airport personnel monitor the situation closely and, in consultation with the airlines, will determine when the last flights are allowed to arrive and depart at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. This will be announced in local media.
- Flights must stop with sufficient time in advance of a weather event to ensure that airlines can relocate aircraft to a safe location. This means that flights that normally terminate at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport may terminate at an alternate stop.
