Disaster Recovery Initiative

The Disaster Recovery Initiative (DRI) provides assistance to households following a natural disaster as declared by the President of the United States or Governor of the State of Florida.  DRI funds may be used for items such as, but not limited to, purchase of emergency supplies, weatherproofing damaged homes, interim repairs, insurance deductible payment, security deposit, rental assistance, and other activities approved by Florida Housing Financial Corporation.

Assistance Available to Purchase (2005 CDBG/DRI Replacement Housing Program)

Couple moving into new homeBroward County experienced a loss of housing stock due to Hurricane Wilma. Therefore, the County has dedicated funds from the Disaster Recovery Initiatives (DRI) grant, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), to replace part of the lost housing. Under this program 21 new homes will be constructed in the unincorporated Central County areas of Roosevelt Gardens and Washington Park and will be available for sale to income eligible buyers.
