Salary Range - $83,541 - $137,007 per year (dependent upon qualifications)

The award-winning Broward County Libraries Division, founded in 1974, serves the ninth largest population nationally and is one of the busiest libraries, with more than 9 million walk-in customers visiting its 40 locations annually. The library has more than 3.4 million items and 2,000 computers for public use and offers hundreds of events and programs to meet the needs of the Broward County's diverse community. The library continues its strong emphasis on literacy, after-school programs and electronic access. Additionally, the library has a comprehensive web site, www.broward.org/library that provides information about library activities, links to online catalogs, reference information and databases.

The Broward County Libraries Division is seeking a highly motivated and responsible Assistant Director.  The successful candidate must be able to clearly demonstrate excellent experience in libraries management and administration, supervision, budgeting, strategic planning, community collaboration, and performance measurements. This position will assist the Libraries Division Director in the administration and supervision of the operations of the Library system, including the development of policy, supervision of professional personnel, planning and organization of services to the public and development of administrative procedures.  Additionally, this position will oversee the Public Service component of the Libraries Division, grant solicitation, customer service support and outreach; as well as develop and implement Division policies, operational goals and priorities, and provide project management.

Requirements: Master's Degree in Library Science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association; six (6) years progressively responsible experience in a large multi-service library system including two (2) years in the supervisory and administrative aspects of the work.
