Salary Range: $69,043.00 - $113,230.00 (dependent on qualifications)

Broward County is seeking an Assistant Director for the Water and Wastewater Operations Division, a large water and wastewater utility in South Florida.

The Assistant Director position performs highly responsible professional and administrative work assisting in managing the Water and Wastewater Operations Division. The Division consists of approximately 240 employees working together to ensure the around-the-clock operation and maintenance of two regional well fields, two water treatment facilities, the distribution and collection systems, a regional wastewater treatment facility, laboratory, and compliance and enforcement sections. If you are a dynamic, well-established professional with considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of managing all aspects of a water/wastewater utility, then consider this outstanding opportunity.

Experience in the operation of large municipal water/wastewater treatment facilities and in negotiations with regulatory agencies is preferred. Incumbent must demonstrate strong supervisory skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in civil or environmental engineering, business or public administration, or related field; six (6) years progressively responsible experience in the administration and management of a large water or wastewater system including four (4) years’ experience in the supervisory aspects of the work; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a Class ‘A’ Drinking Water and/or Wastewater license and hands-on experience managing a water/wastewater utility.
