This is skilled reproduction work operating color and monochrome copiers in a centralized printing service.
Employees in this class operate automated high speed production print, insertion, and bindery equipment that produce customer communication, such as, booklets, flyers, brochures, forms and other documents as required. Supervision is received from a technical supervisor who checks work and assists with the correction of printing problems that may arise.
Operates various computer applications associated with the Central Print Shop including RIP (raster image processor) applications, file management applications, and process or job tracking applications.
Transfers files electronically by sending files on the network to color and monochrome printing equipment.
Ensures product meets or exceeds client quality expectations.
Operates various types of bindery equipment such as drills, folders, collators and staplers when needed.
Maintains optimal machine performance by correcting simple machine problems (clearing jams, refilling toner, replacing machine oil, etc.) and having a working knowledge of machine codes to report, in the event of equipment failure.
Scans jobs and saves to different file types and folders.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of the operating characteristics of high-speed color and monochrome copiers.
Knowledge of the various types of bindery equipment used in digital printing.
Knowledge of basic maintenance and service procedures used in digital printing.
Knowledge of raster image processor (RIP) applications, file management applications, and process or job tracking applications.
Knowledge of stock specifications and quantity estimating.
Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to detect equipment malfunctions and to make the necessary adjustments or request repair service.
Ability to organize work and process documentation accurately.
Ability to keep simple records of work produced.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; two (2) years of related experience operating high-speed color and monochrome copiers or related equipment; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
