This is responsible clerical and manual supply work in a centralized heavy duty vehicular parts storeroom.

Work involves receiving, storing and issuing a variety of tools, materials, supplies and vehicular equipment and parts. Position incumbent checks quantity and quality of goods received for conformity with specifications, and stores goods in designated locations. Duties also include maintaining and developing records of stores activities. Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion and through periodic inventories and audits.


Receives, unloads, counts and verifies delivery receipt for accuracy and content; locates packing ticket or invoice and posts to show kind and number of items received; posts appropriate shipping receipts or other documents to show if the delivery is a full or partial shipment; returns defective or undesired goods; packages various items for shipment or repackages stock for return of defective goods as assigned.

Places goods on appropriate shelves or in bins; marks stock or perpetual inventory records as items are issued.

Assists in procurement and ordering of stock and special orders and calls supervisor's attention to any problems or discrepancies.

Issues materials in response to authorized work orders based on knowledge of materials in warehouse.

Records inventory disbursements from work orders through the inventory control system.

Assists in moving supplies from one location to another; rearranges stock areas when required; climbs ladders as needed to rearrange or obtain items for disbursement.

Performs filing and record keeping; may operate office equipment; may operate fork lift, medium size trucks and buses.

Maintains cleanliness of work areas.

Performs related work as required.


Knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures.

Knowledge of types of supplies in the area of assignment.

Knowledge of routine record keeping procedures.

Ability to make standard arithmetic calculations.

Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.

Ability to issue stock and maintain necessary records accurately.

Ability to perform heavy manual work in lifting and moving stock.

Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation or sexual orientation.


Successful completion of job related tests. Three (3) years experience in the operation of a vehicular parts storeroom, including six (6) months experience in the operation of a heavy duty vehicular parts storeroom desired.


Possession of valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License with Airbrake and Passenger Transport Endorsement or learners permit at the time of interview.
